Distinguished by the following characters: dark brown to black spots in the center of scales; caudal spot absent; humeral spot absent; caudal peduncle about deep as long; 26-29 branched anal rays; 33-35 scales on lateral line; 5 scales above lateral line; 4 scales below lateral line; 9 scales in a regularly row before dorsal fin; 4 to 5 supraneurals; 34-35 vertebrae; and a relatively large eye, 2.36-2.87 times in head length (Ref. 55829).
