Diagnosis: Nothobranchius robustus is the only species of the genus with uniform brown-red fin colouration on both dorsal and anal fins (Ref. 123150).

Description: Dorsal fin with 17 rays; anal fin with 15 rays (Ref. 123150). Number of scales in longitudinal line 28-30, plus 2-5 scales posterior to the hypural plate (Ref. 123150).

Colouration: Uniform brown-red fin colouration on both dorsal and anal fins (Ref. 123150).
