Diagnosis

Relatively small eyes, 16.7-26.7% of HL. Prefringe of rostral cap splitting into tiny fimbriations and with dense hornified papillae. Prefringe of lower lip densely covered with hornified papillae and reaching area between 1/3 and 1/2 of eye. Ventral of head and hornified prefinge of lower lip without black pigment. With rostral barbels, the length equal to or longer than eye diameter. Without maxillary barbels. Gill rakers short and tiny (Ref. 39634).
