Diagnosis: Pectoral rays 16. Gill rakers 8 + 31-32 (total 39-40). Body depth 3.35 in SL; head length (HL) 2.75 in SL; snout length 1.7 in HL; barbels about equal to head length; longest dorsal spine 1.95 in HL; penultimate dorsal ray 1.2 in length of last dorsal ray; pectoral fin length 1.35 in HL; pelvic-fin length 1.5 in HL. Color of the upper two-thirds of head and body red, lower one-third white, the red of body below lateral line divided into six broad red bars by narrow white interspaces; fins red; barbels white (Ref. 54393).
