Description: small species; snout pointed; mouth relatively large; gape inclined at about 20° to horizontal; maxilla extending well beyond vertical at anterior margin of eye; outer oral teeth small, tricuspid or shouldered bicuspid; inner oral teeth unicuspid; 2 series of scales on cheek; eye large; upper margin of eye touching dorsal head profile; lower pharyngeal jaw normal in shape; all pharyngeal teeth small, slender and densely packed; gill-rakers relatively long and slender (Ref. 55898).
Coloration: Preserved: body pale yellowish; 6-7 very faint vertical bars below the dorsal fin; snout dark greyish; all fins pale yellow; dorsal fin with pale grey bands at base, white submarginal band and darker lappets (Ref. 55898). |
