Description: dorsal and ventral body profile convex, dorsal more strongly than ventral; head small; snout short and blunt; mouth small; gape inclined at about 20° to horizontal; maxilla extending to vertical at anterior margin of eye; outer oral teeth bicuspid, close-set; inner oral teeth unicuspid, some shouldered tricuspid; 2 series of scales on cheek; upper margin of eye does not touch dorsal head profile; lower pharyngeal jaw normal; posterior median pharyngeal teeth enlarged, but not molariform; gill-rakers on lower limb short (Ref. 55898).
Coloration: Preserved: body color beige; 6-7 faint vertical bars below dorsal fin; bars visible only on upper half of body; dorsal fin pale with irregular grey spots, merged into oblique bars on soft dorsal; dorsal fin tips pale; all other fins pale (Ref. 55898). |
