Lives on the bottom (Ref. 4967). Mud and vegetable debris found in stomach; caught near shores and in open water (Ref. 98757). Seems to feed mainly on aufwuchs and plants, but probably takes small animals such as insects as well; nothing is known about the breeding habits (Ref. 27292). May ascend rivers to spawn (Ref. 4967) but this has not been reported (Ref. 27292).
