Etymology: Pseudomugil: Greek, pseudes = false + Latin, mugil, -is = grey mullet (Ref. 45335).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Inhabits small creeks, swampy marshes, heavily shaded rainforest streams, lily lagoons and backwaters adjacent to major water courses. Usually found in Pandanus-lined creeks with muddy bottoms. Aggregations are encountered in areas with abundant vegetation and submerged log debris (Ref. 44894). Occurs at temperatures and pH ranging from 23°-30° C and 5.2-6.7 respectively.
