Etymology: Novaculops: Latin, novacula = razor + Greek, ops = appearance (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Thomas Denison Wood (1865–1951) is sometimes known as the Father of Health Education. He was professor of hygiene and physical training at Stanford University. He was honoured in the binomial as he obtained two specimens of this wrasse in Honolulu. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
