Etymology: Corydoras: Greek, kory = helmet + greek, doras = skin (Ref. 45335); condiscipulus: Its name, condiscipulus, means they live in association (around 15% of the total population) with C. oiapoquensis which it resembles (Ref. 35381).

Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Widespread along the whole length of the river. Some specimens have been caught in creeks under tidal influence, others at the headwaters of basins (Ref. 35381). Sympatric with C. oiapoquensis.
