Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 13. Mid-lateral series of black blotches in anterior part of body, often fused to form a complete black mid-lateral stripe; conspicuous black blotch at caudal base; lips with a single row of large papillae (Ref. 43281). Differs from Traccatichthys pulcher by the absence of the distinct black submarginal streaks on dorsal and caudal fins and the presence of a dark brown lateral stripe, with 12-23 small chevron shaped marked (Ref. 40772).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5625   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00871 (0.00385 - 0.01971), b=3.02 (2.83 - 3.21), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.7   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
