Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Males are distinguished with colorful dots at the basal part of the dorsal and anal fins, a translucent caudal fin, and two pairs of neuromasts at the base of the caudal-fin. There are also 10-12 small blue spots on the opercle, surrounded by dispersed blue iridescence, and irregularly arranged series of dots (1-2), at the basal part of the dorsal fin.
This endemic species is found in river system of Araguaia-Toncantins, with temporary pools surrounded by dense aquatic vegetation. They were observed in 0.8 meters of water. The largest specimens examined were 2.08 cm for males and 1.85 cm for females, standard length. (Ref. 119392).
