Dorsal soft rays (total): 115; Anal soft rays: 103. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 115; A 103; caudal-fin rays 8; snout is relatively long and bluntly rounded; head length 25% SL, snout length 10% SL (40% HL); the eyes are not contiguous; corner of mouth is nearer to posterior edge of opercle than to tip of snout; side with eye with 3 lateral lines, 104 lateral-line scales, 17 scale rows between midlateral and dorsolateral lines; blind side without lateral lines; ctenoid scales on both sides; gill chamber and peritoneum are black (Ref. 114855).
