Etymology: Lophiomus: Greek, lophos = crest + Greek, mys = muscleimmaculioralis: Name from Latin 'immaculioralis' derived from ‘immaculi-’ meaning ‘unstained’ and ‘oralis’ for 'oral', referring to the floor of the mouth being light, without conspicuous dark pigmentation.

This new species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D V,8; pelvic-fin rays 7, pectoral-fin rays 21-22; distance between the left opercular and subopercular spines (OPSOP) 22.2% of HL. Colouration: body brown and the absence of conspicuous dark marking on the light floor of the mouth (Ref. 131498).
