Oreichthys cosuatis differs from Oreichthys coorgensis by the absence of a spot on the caudal-fin base (vs. presence), having a bright-yellow dorsal fin with a large black mark covering the distal margin of the dorsal fin, and red ventral fins (vs. hyaline dorsal and ventral fins with an inconspicuous black bar on the tip of the dorsal fin), and a black spot in the anal fin (vs. a black bar on the anal fin) (Ref. 94423).
Occurs in ditches, ponds, streams and canals (Ref. 1479).
