Dorsal spines (total): 8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 7; Anal soft rays: 9; Vertebrae: 23. Diagnosis: Pectoral rays 17-18. Scale rows above the lateral line 20-23. Gill rakers 6-7 + 17-18. Body depth 2.35-2.4 in SL; head length 4.1-4.4 in SL; snout length 2.4-2.6 in HL; longest dorsal spine 2.05-2.1 in HL. Dorsal profile of head from above front of eye to tip of recumbent dorsal spine concave. Caudal fin deeply emarginate, caudal concavity 1.35 in HL. The head and body light blue in life, with many small pale yellowish spots and very irregular narrow yellow bands, resulting in a fine reticular pattern for most of head and body (Ref. 55950).
Presumably feeding on zooplankton, but may only be opportunistic. Digestive tract of type specimen filled with benthic algae (Ref. 55950).

Estimates based on models
Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref.
82804): PD
50 = 0.5000 [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01445 (0.00642 - 0.03257), b=3.07 (2.89 - 3.25), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref.

Resilience (Ref.
120179): High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref.
