Body elongate, moderately compressed, with an arched dorsal profile; snout prominent; mouth small and inferior; lower jaw enclosed by upper; chin with 5 pores and 11 to 13 pairs of small barbels; edge of preopercle smooth; lower branch of first gill arch with 6 to 9 rakers; body uniformly silvery; flanks with 5 very distinct bars; fins pale (Ref. 55763)
Adults are found along sandy shores and bays, also in estuaries (Ref. 9118). Feed mainly on marine worms and other benthic invertebrates (Ref. 9118). Common in local markets (Ref.9118).
