Dorsal soft rays (total): 9 - 11; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 12 - 14. Differs from its only known congeners, T. aurea, in having 27-31 gill rakers on first gill-arch (vs. 31-36) and in the coloration of the living males (body plain blue or red; caudal red; dorsal, anal and pelvic blue or red) (Ref. 7304).
