Etymology: Isorineloricaria: Greek, isos = equal + Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather; 1706 (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr C-J-F-H Carron de Villars was a physician and zoologist. He provided the holotype of this species. We have been unable to find out anything about him except that he was for a time an oculist surgeon in the Sardinian Army. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
