Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt) : 14; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt) : 9 - 10; Afterflossenstacheln: 6 - 7; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 10 - 11; Wirbelzahl: 24 - 26. A species of the C. congicum species group with characters typical of that assemblage. Within this group, C. milleri may be distinguished by the following characters: unusually low fin-spine counts for Ctenopoma (D XIV, A VI-VII), and a distinctive, mottled color pattern.
