Males dark brown to greyish brown, females lighter with narrow bars and mottling on body (Ref. 43716). Head somewhat compressed, profile pointed; TRB 13-17; predorsal scales 17-25, small, and extending forward almost to behind eyes; sensory papillae on head occasionally forming multiple rows on cheeks (Ref. 43716). Caudal fin truncate to rounded posteriorly (Ref. 43716).
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Found only in Lake Poso, on silty sand shallows, on mud and gravel substrate, with some aquatic plants present, and also on banks of steep gravel and large limestone rocks (Ref. 43716). Feeds on small fishes and insect larvae (Ref. 43716).
