Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Dorsal soft rays (total): 7 - 8; Anal soft rays: 12 - 13; Vertebrae: 33 - 34. This species can be diagnosed from all other species of the Anablepsoides urophthalmus group by having the following characters: longitudinal rows of red dots interrupted and replaced by short rows of golden
dots on the flank in males (vs. rows of red dots often cotinuous, when interrupted not replaced by golden dots); margins of unpaired fins dark grey in males (vs. never dark
pigment concentrated on fin edge to form distinct colored margins); and a horizontal row of red dots on the sub-basal region of the anal fin in males (never a similar color pattern) (Ref. 94717).
