Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 8. This species is distinguished from the other two congeners by the following characters: body completely naked; more posterior position of the anus, which is closer to the anal-fin origin than to the pelvic-fin origin (distance from anus to anal-fin origin 0.2-0.4 times in distance from pelvic-fin origin to anal-fin origin); color pattern mottled or prominent irregular dark brown or black midlateral stripe disconnected from blotches and saddles on back; and caudal fin slightly emarginated (Ref. 95092).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5156   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00676 (0.00376 - 0.01216), b=2.97 (2.82 - 3.12), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this species & (Sub)family-body (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.8   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
