Etymology: Hyphessobrycon: Greek, hyphesson, -on, -on = a little smaller + Greek, bryko = to bite (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Jack Roberts was a dealer in, and breeder of, tropical fish. He owned Roberts’ Fish Farm in Miami, Florida, in partnership with his brother, Frank. Jack collected the holotype. (See also Jack Roberts). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
