背棘 (總數) : 11 - 13; 背的軟條 (總數) : 18 - 22; 臀棘: 3; 臀鰭軟條: 21 - 23; 脊椎骨: 31. Small specimens mottled or banded; adult uniformly black (Ref. 4412). Body moderately deep. Predorsal scales extending forward to about level of mideye. Snout deep and evenly rounded (Ref 9834).
