Etymology: Petitella: French, petit = small, diminituve (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Professor Georges Jean-Jacques Petit (1892–1973) was a French marine biologist at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. [...] Georgette Géry was the wife of the author Dr Jacques Géry (1917–2007) (q.v.). Although the original text was silent, the author later revealed that this was the lady honoured.
