Africa: occurs in the Ogowe to Chiloango Rivers (Ref. 81638). Also reported from the marine lower Congo River (Ref. 80507) in Democratic Republic of the Congo. Report from the Inkisi River probably based on a locality error (Ref. 88779).

Dorsale stekels (totaal) : 0; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 13 - 16; Anale stekels: 0; Anale zachte stralen: 9 - 13. Diagnosis: anal fin with 2 unbranched and 7-11 branched rays; head and body with dark band along mid-lateral surface from snout to at least rear of caudal peduncle (Ref. 81638).
Maximum TL was recorded at 4.2 cm (Ref. 7094).
