Slender body, caudal peduncle strongly compressed, extremely short. Photophores with a bronzy rim. Barbel pale, bulb and filaments yellowish (Ref. 37473).

Inhabits deep oceanic waters to more than 1,000 m depth (Ref. 4783). Meso- and bathypelagic (Ref. 58302).
