الأشواك الظهرية (المجموع) : 0; الأشعة الظهرية الناعمة (المجموع) : 95 - 98; شوكة شرجية: 0; أشعه شرجية لينه: 74 - 77. Body relatively short; eye diameter much shorter than snout, mouth ends well posterior to eye; many needle-like teeth; short, sharp opercular spine, preopercle unarmed; 2 median basibranchial tooth patches (Ref. 34024).

A benthic species found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154). Uncommon species (Ref. 34024). Reproductive strategy possibly similar to other members of this family featuring oviparity, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
