Spine dorsali (totale) : 12 - 21; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 6 - 9; Spine anali: 0; Raggi anali molli: 23 - 27. Snout long, tubular. Lower jaw projecting forward beyond upper one. No barbel on lower jaw. A short barbel is present on the posterior end of the upper jaw. Branchial membranes free from isthmus.
