Biologie     Glossaire (ex. epibenthic)

Found in moderate to fast-flowing stretches of shallow rivers, on sandy banks and shores, sometimes on rock bottom with submerged vegetation (Ref. 59043). Oviparous, with distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Population not threatened as most are stable and occurs only as a few restricted populations (Ref. 59043).

Life cycle and mating behavior Maturité | Reproduction | Frai | Œufs | Fécondité | Larves

During courtship, 'the male follows the female and, after both enter dense vegetation (e.g. filamentous algae), the male forms a complete ring around the female's body behind the dorsal as the female releases the eggs' (Ref. 59043).
