Etymology: Neoclinus: Greek,neos = new + Greek, klinein, kline = sloping and bed, due to the four apophyses of sphenoid bone (Ref. 45335); chihiroe: Named after Mrs. Toshio Okazaki, Chihiroe is her given name. Chihiroe also means thousand fathoms.
Eponymy: Chihiro Okazaki is the the wife of Dr Toshio Okazaki (q.v.), whom Fukao credits with leading to the discovery of Neoclinus chihiroe sister taxon N. okazakii. Interestingly, ‘Chihiroe’ also means ‘thousand fathoms’. (Also see Okazaki) (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
