Etymology: Poroclinus: Greek, poros = porous + Greek, klinein, kline = sloping and bed, due to the four apophyses of sphenoid bone (Ref. 45335);  rothrocki: Named for Dr. J.T. Rothrock, botanist at the Universitiy of Pennsylvania (Ref. 6885).

Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt) : 57 - 67; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt) : 0; Afterflossenstacheln: 3; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 40 - 44. Caudal long, narrow, bluntly pointed; pectorals broad and rounded (Ref. 6885). Light brown on dorsal surfaces, lighter ventrally; about 10 to 12 white vertical bars edged with brown in a series on upper part of body, spreading or dividing to become confluent with pale ventral coloring; small brown smudges at bases of membranes between spines of posterior part of dorsal fin (Ref. 6885).
