Western Indian Ocean: known only from Pangani, Maziwi Islands, Tanzania.

The type material was collected amongst the coral Galaxea clavus. Males may be mature at 4.35 cm SL. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
