Etymology: Pseudolabrus: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, labrax = a fish, Dicentrarchus labrax (Ref. 45335)fuentesi: Named for Prof. Francisco Fuentes who first collected this species in Easter Island.
Eponymy: Professor Maturana Francisco Fuentes (1876–1934) was a botanist at the University of Chile and National Museum. He made a collection of fish, including this wrasse, at Easter Island (1911). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
