Etymology: Poeciliopsis: Greek, poikilos = with a lot of colours + Greek, opsis = appearance (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Clarence Lester Turner (1890–1969) was an American ichthyologist who studied embryology and reproduction in fishes. Among his published works are: The Crayfishes of Ohio (1926) and Collected Papers on Reproduction and Viviparity in Teleost Fishes (1962). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
