Short description
Chiavi di identificazione | Morfologia | Morfometria
Diagnosed from congeners in Black and Caspian Sea basins by the following characters: strongly arched mouth; dorsal fin usually with 8½ branched rays; anal fin with 9-10½ branched rays; scales on lateral line 56-73; eye small, diameter 48-52% of interorbital distance; and body cylindrical, width at dorsal origin 51-69% of depth (Ref. 59043).
Inhabits piedmont and mountain rivers with strong current and rock to gravel bottom. Feeds predominantly on detritus and also on periphytic algae and benthic invertebrates, especially during first year of live. Spawns over hard bottom (Ref. 59043).
