Distinguished from its congeners in having a dorsal caudal plate that supports eight principal rays; ventral caudal plate that articulates with six or seven rays; dorsal caudal-fin lobe with seven branched rays; dorsal caudal-fin lobe long, up to approximately 35% SL; ventral caudal-fin lobe with 15-19 rays; ventral caudal-fin lobe with six branched rays; forked caudal fin; and short maxillary barbels, 33.3-40.4% SL. Differs further from Nemuroglanis lanceolatus in having shorter anal-fin base, 12.4-18.1% SL; and longer caudal peduncle, 17.5-20.1% SL; and from N. pauciradiatus in having more vertebrae, 42-44 and more anal-fin rays, 13-15 (Ref. 55662).
