Pectorals as long as head, posterior end does not extend origin of pelvic fins. Caudal peduncle thin, height 14.4-22.9x of SL. Dark grey-black or brown coloration.

Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

Affinities: Brienomyrus longianalis. Occurs in most coastal basins in West Africa (Ref. 2703). Within this species complex, four distinct waveforms of electric organ discharge (EOD) were noted in the Gabon (Ivindo River) populations, probably pointing to separate species (Ref. 10460). Exhibits sexual dimorphism in its EOD waveform and duration (Ref. 10011; 10764 ). EOD has a constant waveform and variable sequence of pulse intervals (SPI) (Ref. 55567).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.6250   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00891 (0.00552 - 0.01438), b=2.71 (2.58 - 2.84), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this species & (Sub)family-body (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.8   ±0.31 se; based on food items.
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Medio, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione 1.4 - 4.4 anni (Assuming Fec < 5,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
