Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 9; Raggi anali molli: 19 - 20; Vertebre: 33. Can be distinguished from all other Danio species by the combination of 5-7 dark, spotted or continuous horizontal stripes on the side of the body, incomplete lateral line, and two pairs of long barbels.
Sexually mature females were collected from a small stream with clear, brownish and fast running water with deep bamboo forest on both banks, more than 80% shaded, with mud and small stones on the bottom (Ref. 33084).
