Etymology: Schistura: Greek, schizein = to divide + Greek, oura = tail; an allusion to forked caudal fins (Ref. 45335)athos: Named for Athos, one of the characters of Alexandre Dumas' 'Les trois mousquetaires'.
Eponymy: Athos is a fictional character, one of The Three Musketeers – see various novels by Alexandre Dumas. It joins two other Schistura species named aramis and porthos (q.v.). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
