Outer rostral barbels very long, reaching lower front corner of opercle; 8+8 branched caudal-fin rays; nostril flap pointed, reaching eye; body dark brown, 6-15 white or yellow bars most prominent in postdorsal body.
Found in streams; restricted to microhabitats with moderate flowing water and never in riffles or waterfalls. Associated with S. hingi and Oreoglanis sp. (Sisoridae).
