Dorsal with irregular reticulated light brown to reddish-brown pattern over disc, pelvic fins and tail, demarcating white or creamy-white oval; reniform and circular spots of variable sizes over disc, and small white spots on dorsal and caudal fins. Eyes large and bulging. Circular spiracles with markedly elevated rims and complete antero-lateral margin. Interorbital distance greater than interspiracular distance. First dorsal fin greater than second in height. Individual teeth with small lateral cusplets; upper and lower tooth bands roughly equal in width and broadly rounded.

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01175 (0.00470 - 0.02937), b=2.88 (2.66 - 3.10), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
(Ref. 69278):  3.1   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
(Assuming fecundity<100).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low to moderate vulnerability (33 of 100).
