Etymology: Neostethus: Greek,neos = new + Greek, stetho, stethion = brest; literal = to prick a little breast (Ref. 45335); djajaorum: Named in honor of the Rachmat Djaja and family, for their kindness and extraordinary support of the author's fieldwork in Sulawesi (Ref. 44355).
Eponymy: The Djaja family -Rachmat, Jootje and their three children (Ike, Yuni and Andi) – were honoured “...for their kindness and extraordinary support of [the authors’] fieldwork in Sulawesi.” Nothing more was recorded. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 2; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 6; Taggstrålar i analfenan: 0; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 15; Ryggkotor: 33 - 35. Like N. robertsi and N. palawanensis, has a large second ctenactinium that is bifid distally, but distinguished from those species by having a bone larger and more distinctly claw-shaped, and extent of a bony projection and fleshy profile on the ventral margin of the first ctenactinium that abuts the claw (Ref. 44355).
Collected over a muddy bottom, in a slightly turbid irrigation ditch relatively near the sea (Ref. 44355). Fertilization is internal and eggs are attached to the substrate via adhesive filaments (Ref. 43413).
