Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 9 - 10; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 6 - 7. Can be easily distinguished from all other species of the Bornean Balitoridae in possessing the upper lip fused with the rostral cap anteriorly, between the rostral barbels. Other characters useful for identification but not unique include the following: rostral fold soft and fleshy; lips continuous around corner of mouth; postlabial groove widely interrupted medially; two pairs of rostral barbels, one pair of maxillary barbels and a short process projecting backwards at outer extremity of lower lip; several papillae in median area of lower lip; anterior nostril pierced in a valve-like flap covering the posterior nostril; gill opening extending downwards to origin of pectoral fin; pelvic fins widely separated; pectoral fin with a simple and 20-21 branched rays; pelvic fin with a simple and 6-7 branched rays; 65-75+2 lateral line scales (Ref. 54043).
