This species is characterized by the following: dorsal fin rays 56-65, anal fin rays 46-51; otolith with fused colliculi; few large scales on cheek; dentary with 2-4 large fangs in mid section; anterior inner pseudoclasper disc-shaped and inwardly-directed, larger than posterior inner pseudoclasper; outer pseudoclasper small and lobate (Ref. 55786).
