Short description Chiavi di identificazione | Morfologia | Morfometria

Spine dorsali (totale) : 7; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 10; Spine anali: 1; Raggi anali molli: 10. This species is characterized by the following; females with closely-set, slightly flexible tricuspid premaxillary teeth and 0-1 canine-like tooth at the posterior tip of the premaxilla; immature males with conical teeth posterior to tricuspid teeth; adult males with only fixed recurved conical to canine-like teeth; scales are much higher than long, along lateral midline between second dorsal and anal fins; few ctenoid scales midlaterally in males while only cycloid scales in females, and female scales are generally smaller than in males (Ref. 75882).

Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

Inhabits swift, clear streams with rocky bottom; the species utilizes presence of heavy rains to migrate to the sea or to the river. The mature specimens were collected at an altitude of 300 m. Few specimens were found to have fed on aquatic insects and crustacean (Ref. 75882).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.7500   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00389 (0.00180 - 0.00842), b=3.12 (2.94 - 3.30), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Alto, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione meno di 15 mesi (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
