Etymology: faucireticulatus: Derived from the Latin fauces (throat) and reticulatus (with reticulum), in reference to the unique black reticulate color pattern on the ventral portion of the head in females.

شعاع نرم باله پشتي (کل) : 9 - 10; شعاع نرم باله مخرجي: 13 - 14; مهره ها: 30. Distinguished from all congeners by the following unique color patterns: a broad subbasal red stripe on the dorsal fin in males; ventral portion of the head with a black reticulate pattern in females; caudal fin orange on the dorsal and ventral portions, yellow on the middle in females (Ref. 75134).
Inhabits ponds with clear water, about 1.5 m deep, connected to shallow creeks of about 0.05 m deep (Ref. 75134). Adults stay close to the surface of the ponds, near emerging aquatic plants while a few juveniles occur in shallow creek (Ref. 75134).
