Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 11; Vertebrae: 40 - 41. Diagnosed from other species of Hemibrycon by having the following characters: first laterosensorial infraorbitals canal in contact with the posterior end of antorbital; tip of the supraoccipital spine widened; posterior end of ectopterygoid failing to come in contact with the quadrate bone (vs. in contact, except Hemibrycon raqueliae); posterior edge of palatine more widened than the anterior edge of ectopterygoid (vs. posterior edge of the palatine approximately the same size, except for Hemibrycon paez). Distinguished from Hemibrycon colombianus by having 40-42 pored scales in the lateral line (vs. 46-54) and 10-14 predorsal scales (vs. 14-18), and from the other species of upper and middle Magdalena drainage Hemibrycon by having 4-6 scales between the lateral line and the pelvic fins (vs. > 6) (Ref. 83529).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00955 (0.00443 - 0.02057), b=3.06 (2.88 - 3.24), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.0   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
