Σπόνδυλοι: 43. Closely related to Leptobotia guilinensis and Leptobotia posterodorsalis by the following shared characters: lacking button-like papillae on chin region; small eye; short mouth barbels; and origin of dorsal fin posterior to ventral fin. Can be diagnosed from Leptobotia guilinensis by lacking vertical bands (vs. 15-18 vertical bands), having more vertebrae 4 + 39 (vs. 4 + 35-36), and end of pelvic fin not reaching anus (vs . reaching anus). Differs from Leptobotia posterodorsalis in having numerous white spots on body side (vs. no spot), more gill rakers 13-15 (vs . 3-4) on the outer side of first gill arch, body depth 4.9-6.9 % in SL (vs. 6.8-7.3), deep forked caudal, and more stripes 3-4 (vs. 1) on both lobes of caudal fin (Ref. 83654).
